YOUR EXPERIENCE

Everything you need to know about Legacy Hound studio

Capturing your dog’s spirit takes a kind of courage, and I know it can leave you feeling vulnerable.

I have written this to help guide you and answer your questions — before you have to ask them. So when you are ready for a discovery call with me, what you feel is not uncertainty.

Most people have been meaning to do this for years.

They love their dog. They want a piece on the wall. They put it off because they don’t know what the day looks like, or what happens after.

Here’s the process. We talk on the phone. I explain how it works and answer your questions. We book a time at the studio. I take the photographs. Then we look at them together and you decide if you want artwork for the house.

 THE THINGS PEOPLE WORRY ABOUT

The questions that come up again and again —

These come up on almost every call. None of them mean you shouldn’t come in. —

I’ve photographed every kind of dog — high-energy working breeds, nervous dogs, dogs who just want to nap, and everything in between. My job is to capture your dog’s personality. The studio is relaxed, and I’ve spent over 40 years around working breeds, which makes that possible.

  • “My dog won’t sit still.”
That’s fine. I don’t need them still. I work with how they actually are.

  • “I hate having my photo taken.”
This is about your dog. If you’re in a picture, it won’t feel like a photoshoot. We go at their pace.

  • “My dog gets nervous somewhere new.”
We take our time. The studio is quiet. We don’t rush them.

  • “I don’t know what to expect.”
That’s what the call is for. I talk you through the day before you book anything.

  • “Is this the right time?”
If they’re here, it’s the right time. Don’t wait for a better year.

STEP ONE

Your Discovery Call

→ This is where we start. You get in touch by phone or through the site, and we find a time to talk. The call lasts about fifteen minutes.

→ I want to get to know your dog — their personality, the little things that make them who they are, and who you’d like to share the day with. → We’ll also talk about where in the house a piece might go, so I’m photographing with that wall in mind.

→ If it feels right, we book the studio. Where we can, we set the viewing for the same day, so you see the pictures while the session is still fresh.

→ The session is £350. That holds your date. £150 of it comes off the artwork if you order after the viewing.

If someone else will be part of the decision, they should be on this call too. Then there are no surprises later.

STEP TWO

Your Photographic Experience

Not a photoshoot. A day you share with your dog — time in the studio to be together, and to capture that bond.

You come to the studio in Plymouth with your dog. The session is usually about an hour, but we are not tied to the clock. We don’t rush. We go at their pace.

I’ve already spoken to you on the call, so I know what they’re like and what you care about. I’m not after stiff poses. I photograph them as they are.

I’ll send you a simple guide before the day so you know what to bring and what to expect. When you walk in, it shouldn’t feel like a surprise.

Bring treats and a toy they love. When we finish, you can take them next door for a coffee while I get the pictures ready for the viewing.

STEP THREE

Your Design & Viewing Appointment

This is the first time you see the pictures. For a lot of people, this is the part they remember.

It usually happens the same day, after a short break. If you’d rather come back another day, we can do that too. We sit at the table with a large screen. I also have prints and samples on easels and against the wall, so you can see how the work feels as an object, not just a file.

This is not a gallery. It is a working studio. I am there as the person who made the pictures, and as the person who will help you turn them into a piece for the house. We talk about composition, which images belong together, and how they should sit on your wall. You watch that being built in front of you.

We go at your pace. You don’t have to buy anything. If someone else needs to be part of that decision, they should be in the room.

STEP FOUR

Your artwork, home

The moment it lands, the room is never quite the same again.

→ After you order, your work goes straight into production with master printers. Most pieces are ready in around six to eight weeks.

→ It arrives complete — framed, finished, and ready to hang. Made with archival materials meant to outlast you, and the next generation after.

→ We ship across the UK and overseas, and can put UK clients in touch with a professional installer if you need help getting it on the wall.

→ And just like that you have transformed your space for ever, and created some beautiful memories with you and your dog for you to cherish every day. A finished piece in the house, from the day you spent together.
